About the Author

After studying philosophy and rhetoric, Carlo Lorenzini worked in Florence in the nineteenth century as a librarian, translator of fairy tales, novelist, author of school text books and as a journalist for political newspapers.

In 1883 with the publishing of the book ‘The Adventures of Pinocchio’ under the pseudonym Carlo Collodi, he succeeded in creating a masterpiece of children’s literature, which made its international breakthrough in the twentieth century, has been translated into more than 100 languages and, by means of countless adaptations into film, has remained immortal down to this day – just like its creator Carlo Collodi.
